Tropical Cyclone Phet is bearing down on the coast of Oman, where it is expected to strike land within the next 24 hours. Cyclone Phet has been announced a category 5 storm. Its speed is to exceed 200 kms/hour, enough to damage buildings and pull down trees, according to experts. For their part, Omani authorities have declared a state of emergency and evacuated the areas expected to be hit by the cyclone.
